The front side of the cross
The entire front side of the cross is covered with crystal plates in a single gold frame, with relics underneath. In the middle, there is a small cross with the wood from the Holy Cross inside, which is adorned with pearls, sapphires, spinels and colored glass. The left arm of the cross contains a spike from the Holy Cross and the only ruby and diamond of the cross. The right arm of the cross contains a piece of the rope with which Jesus Christ was tied. The upper part of the cross contains a piece of the sponge from which Jesus Christ drank and the lower part contains two thorns from Christ’s crown. The only aquamarine on the cross is to the right from the thorns and the only emerald is right above the base of the cross.
